July 2 Straw Bales!!!!

The smokey appearance in the photos are from the local fires raging on July 2. Undaunted, we had the straw bales delivered anyway. Two trucks worth....250 bales.


We ended up getting Rice bales from the 2007 harvest. The farmer, who delivered them, said that the wheat bales didn't pan out. Rice works better anyway, if we ever get this thing up.

The girls and me, while stacking the buggers... I haven't worked like that since haying on a farm as a kid. Love it!!!

We piled the bales and then headed out for a camping trip. We had prior obligations at the county fair in the Napa Valley....
