After Seven Weeks: The State of the Homestead, part one

Now that the story of the last seven weeks has been (more or less) told, it's time to stop and take stock. Where are we right now on this Homestead? What are we moving towards? For me, a place to live is about simplicity, beauty, sacredness and functionality. Let's start out with the sacred spaces, or shrines, we have:

A kuan yin next to the Solar Pole...

Buddha...
St. Francis watches over the bedroom...

Some lucky horseshoes, a hawk feather, a Stellar Jay feather and a reptile skin...next to the house..
Every house needs altars to the Holy. That Graven Image commandment is more about not melding with other cultures, than it is about the Holy. Too bad it's there. Through Sacred stories we learn from all cultures. All religions. All faiths. And, for me, it's important to bring it all home in sacred space...
