Snow At The Solar Compound!!

First a cheese allergy, and now Snow on the Roof. We got five inches on Sunday Night. The roof held it up just fine...but I do wish we had a bit more of an angle on the roof so it would shed better.

The valiant Solar Panels in the snow:

And the window we put in, protected by plastic...we have to keep the Cob dry until we get the plaster on the outside of it.

It is cold outside. Forty two degrees as I type this. And the wind is howling...

cold?...at 40 degrees, from where i am, that would be a warm winters day. Try -25C with a wind chill factor making it -40C...and thats for a week. Glad your roof held up, a greater degree of slope would perhaps have made the snow slide off,but once it warms up it will of course melt, got a barrel underneath to catch the water?

We are wimps, Gary. Soft Californians. :)

I'm not certain that this roof (using 1/2 inch plywood) would hold any thing more than a few inches of snow...we will have to shovel it off if we get any substantial snow...

And a rain catchment plan is in the works. Look for it to be done around 2014!

Cheers!
