Turning Green...and the Straw Revealed...

We got 3 1/2 inches of rain last Saturday night. I was working in the Napa Valley. Joni was left alone to withstand the first serious, pummelling rainstorm. We weren't ready...she did a good job of channeling the runoff (shoveling in the rain) so that it wouldn't jeopardize any work we've done.

We are starting to see the first sprigs of green after the storm. Finally, a new color other than brown, to look at. Winter in California means everything turns a vibrant green.

We uncovered the straw. Turns out that in the bright sunshine, our tarps semi-failed. Some of the bales got wet...and are drying now. When we finish the roof, I will move them (in turtle-like fashion) under our addition.
